January is a complicated month for those of us living in the northern hemisphere.

When executed properly, snacks can provide key nutrients, fill nutritional gaps in our diet, curb cravings, and perhaps even help with weight management.

It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and the happiest of New Years.

I’m not usually one to get all sentimental at the end of the year (after all, does anything reallllly change once the clock strikes midnight?), but I couldn’t help be feel a hint of nostalgia set in when I started to think about everything that has happened over the past 12 months. 2016 definitely had its fair share of ups and downs, but I’m happy to report that, overall, the ups far exceeded the downs. I graduated from my dietetic internship, passed the exam to (finally!) become a Registered Dietitian, moved into an apartment that I love, traveled out west (twice!), visited 2 national parks, hiked a glacier, completed survived my first semester of graduate school, and got engaged! It’s been a busy, stressful, exciting and eventful year for sure. Who knows what 2017 will bring, but right now I’m kind of hoping it’s a nap because I’m exhausted just thinking about everything that happened last year.
