Hello! Welcome to Byte Sized Nutrition – a blog dedicated to sharing bites of tasty and nutritious eats, along with small “bytes” (think megabytes, only like 32053952x smaller) of nutritional advice to help you to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Being my first blog post and all, I feel like I should probably start with an introduction (although, let’s be real, we all know that the only people who are probably reading this right now don’t need one – Hi mom and dad!). Butttt since it’s still too early in the game to be breaking blogging etiquette (is that a thing? what does it entail? ah, I have so much to learn…), I’ll keep it short and sweet…
My name is Kara and I’m the face (errr hands..?) behind this blog. I’m a relatively recent Ohio transplant (born and raised in Western NY) and – even more recently – a Registered Dietitian! I’m a foodie in the truest sense and believe that food is one of the most powerful, yet underutilized, forms of medicine. That being said, I stand behind the argument that a balanced lifestyle is a healthy lifestyle and share an equal affinity for both kale salads and ice cream. My goal is ultimately to show that maintaining a well-balanced diet doesn’t have to be boring, difficult, or expensive (did I mention that I’m a soon-to-be full-time graduate student? #livingonabudget). But enough about me.. If you’re bored and happen to have too much time on your hands, you can read more about me (and my nutrition philosophy) here.
So back to the blog. This little project of mine has been in the works for quite some time now. In fact, I’ve had this crazy idea of starting a blog ever since I first started getting really into nutrition way back in 2010. But then life (aka school) happened and the idea got put on the back burner (over, and over, and over again) until it was just that – a (very, very distant) idea. It wasn’t until recently that I realized that there was never going to be the “perfect time” to take the plunge into the blogging world. Which brings us to where we are today!
Now, to be completely honest, I have no idea what will come of this little blog of mine – it may stick around for a while or it may just crash and burn (although better I’d much rather have a burnt blog than burnt food, just saying…). But for now, I’m going with it. Because you know what? At the end of the day, the biggest regrets are always the chances you don’t take. So on that note… Here’s to taking chances and hoping for the best (ironically, this also happens to be my motto in the kitchen).
Cheers!
